Aftercare

Proper aftercare is essential to ensure a body piercing heals properly and without complications. Here are some general guidelines for body piercing aftercare:

  1. Keep the piercing area clean: Use a mild, fragrance-free soap and water to gently clean the piercing area twice a day. Avoid using harsh chemicals or alcohol-based solutions, as they can dry out the skin and irritate the piercing.
  2. Avoid touching the piercing: Don't touch the piercing with dirty hands or allow others to touch it. This can introduce bacteria and other pathogens, increasing the risk of infection.
  3. Avoid submerging the piercing in water: Avoid swimming or submerging the piercing in water, including pools, hot tubs, lakes, and oceans until the piercing has fully healed. If it's necessary to get the piercing wet, such as during showering, cover it with a waterproof bandage.
  4. Avoid irritants: Avoid wearing tight or restrictive clothing that rubs against the piercing, and avoid using perfumes, lotions, or other irritants on the area.
  5. Don't remove the jewelry prematurely: Leave the initial jewelry in place until the piercing has fully healed, which can take several weeks to several months depending on the piercing location. Removing the jewelry prematurely can cause the piercing to close up or become infected.
  6. Be mindful of signs of infection: Watch for signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, discharge, or pain. If you experience any of these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
  7. Be patient: Healing time for a body piercing can vary depending on the location and individual factors. Be patient and follow aftercare instructions diligently to ensure a safe and speedy healing process.
It's essential to follow the specific aftercare instructions provided by your piercer, as some piercings may require additional care or precautions. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact your piercer or healthcare provider.

SOLUTIONS FOR BODY/ORAL PIERCINGS

-In order to take care of your piercing you must use a saline solution. While soap is good for cleaning your piercing, saline is the key to healing your piercing and is far more important. Sterile saline solutions such as H2Ocean or a packaged wound wash are preferred.

-If you'd like to mix your own saline solution then you would need to dissolve 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized (iodine free) fine-grain sea salt into one cup (8oz) of warm distilled or bottled water. The solution should be no saltier than your tear drops A stronger mixture is not better and can irritate your piercing!

-DO NOT USE Rubbing Alcohol, Peroxide, Neosporin, Tea Tree Oil, Bactine, Contact lens saline, eye drops, and other saline products or ointments on a body piercing!

-AVOID applying makeup, hair products, tanning products or other creams/lotions on your piercing as it can irritate your piercing!
